Longtime UFC lightweight Tyson Griffin (above) will debut at featherweight against Manny Gamburyan at UFC on Versus 4

Former UFC lightweight contender Tyson Griffin will make his first appearance in the promotion’s featherweight class against one-time 145-pound title challenger Manny Gamburyan at UFC on Versus 4 on June 26.

The UFC announced the bout on April 5 on their official website.

At one point, Griffin (14-5) had improved to 7-2 in the UFC before dropping three straight bouts to Evan Dunham, Takanori Gomi, and Nik Lentz. He’ll now join former 155 contenders Kenny Florian and Joe Stevenson in the newly-created UFC featherweight class, which already includes several top fighters brought over from the WEC.

Gamburyan (11-5) also competed for a time at lightweight in the UFC following a stint on season five of The Ultimate Fighter. After going 2-3, he moved on to the WEC and won three straight bouts at featherweight until suffering a TKO loss to current champion Jose Aldo.

  1. Manny is training with Leo Frincu. Manny is going to win. Leo Frincu is the best wrestling coach on the planet. He’s trained several worldclass fighters and even coached the olympic wrestling team. Anyone that trains with Frincu is going to win easily by submission.
