Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez will defend his belt against Pat Curran on April 2

Bellator Fighting Championships on March 29 announced the full fight card for Bellator 39 on April 2 in Uncasville, Conn., headlined by a lightweight title fight between champion Eddie Alvarez and tournament winner Pat Curran.

As already announced, former Bellator champion Lyman Good will take on Judo Olympian Rick Hawn in a welterweight tournament semi-final match, while Toby Imada will face Patricky “Pitbull” Freire in a lightweight semi-final bout, and UFC veteran Ben Saunders will go up against Matt Lee.

Bellator also confirmed five undercard matches, including Matt Veach vs. Rene Nazarre and Greg Rebello vs. Dan Cramer.

Veach went in the UFC, getting released after back-to-back losses to Frankie Edgar and Paul Kelly. Cramer, meanwhile, appeared on The Ultimate Fighter 7 and had two fights in the Octagon, beating Matt Arroyo and losing to Matt Riddle.

  1. It’s definitely a good card. No UFC that weekend, but the NCAA tourney is still going on. VCU vs. Butler is at 6pm and UConn vs. Kentucky is supposed to tip off just before 9pm.
