MMAJunkie has reported that a lightweight bout between Yves Edwards and Sam Stout is in the process of being finalized for UFC 131. The event takes place on June 11 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Back in 2004, Edwards was considered the uncrowned king of the UFC lightweights after dispatching Hermes Franca and Josh Thomson is back-to-back bouts. However, the promotion dropped the division.

Edwards returned to the UFC in 2006, but dropped both his bouts and was quickly released. In 2010, he earned his back once again with victories over Derrick Noble in the MFC and Luis Palomino in Bellator. Since returning to the promotion, he is 2-0 with wins over John Gunderson and Cody McKenzie.

Stout a reputation as an action fighter thanks to five “Fight of the Night” bonuses in his 10 UFC bouts. During his UFC run, “Hands of Stone” has picked up wins over Joe Lauzon, Matt Wiman and Spencer Fisher. In his last fight, he took a split decision over Paul Taylor at UFC 121.

Headlining UFC 131 is a heavyweight bout between former champion Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos. Also on the card, NCAA All-American Mark Munoz will take on ADCC champion Demian Maia.
