Shreveport, LA Bellator 36 takes place this evening at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana, and will air LIVE on MTV2 starting at 9 p.m. ET.

Bellator 36 will kick off the organization’s talent-filled Lightweight tournament featuring four world-class match-ups.

Tonight’s main card will be headlined by the highly anticipated Bellator debut of Rob McCullough as he faces off against Patricky Freire. Also on the main card will be Toby Imada who secured a highlight reel submission that earned him “Submission of the Year” honors back in 2009.

Bellator 36 play-by-play:

Marcin Held vs. Mike Chandler

Round 1 – Chandler starts very fast, closes the distance and lands a big kick to the body. Chandler immediately puts Held on his back with a nice take down. Held grabs a leg and goes for a kneebar. Chandler trying to free his leg, and lands 4 or 5 big right hands but Held is going for the toe hold now. Chandler is out and standing over the guard of Held. Chandler dives into the guard with a right hand. Held is swinging his hips and staying very active but is eating some big punches. Held transitions for an arm bar but Chandler postures out. Short left hands from Chandler, and Held is going for another arm bar. Good top control from Chandler from the top. Back in the full guard now. Chandler is now delivering some punishment from the top as Held stays very active hunting for submissions. Chandler isolates an arm and has an arm triangle attempt locked up. Chandler goes to side mount looking to finish and does. Held is completely out.

Carey Vanier vs. Lloyd Woodard

Round 1 – With a nickname like ‘cupcake’ you have to be a pretty tough guy. Woodard is also undefeated at 10-0 but is facing some big comp in Carey Vanier. Let’s get it. Lots of feints from Woodard to start. Vanier lands a straight left hand and then they go to the clinch. Nice knees from Woodard to start. Vanier drops for a take down by Woodard stuffs it easily. Kicks from Vanier now from the outside. Woodard answers with one of his own to the body. Vanier shoots from way outside but is stuffed again. Vanier grabs the body with a body lock and takes Woodard for a ride. Good balance from ‘cupcake’, but Vanier finally gets the big slam. Woodard right back up and on his feet. Woodard lands a looping right hand that forces Vanier to shoot again. No take down, instead they are back in the clinch against the cage. Woodard staying busy with short knees before stepping back and away. Nice left hand from Vanier, but Woodard is making this ugly. Another looping right hand from Woodard. Woodard comes forward with an overhand right. Vanier shooting again, Woodard remains standing with one minute to go in the opening round. Woodard with the thai clinch but Vanier postures out and goes for another bodylock, then presses Woodard into the cage. They separate and Woodard flies across the distance with a winging punch at the bell. ProMMAnow.com scores Round 1 for Carey Vanier, 10-9.

Round 2 – Woodard comes out fast with a left hand, then a nice kick to the body. Vanier comes forward, and Woodard lands a quick, short left hook that drops Vanier. Vanier is trying to grab a leg to survive, and after a scramble, they are back on their feet but Vanier is hurt. To the clinch, and Woodard lands a big knee that drops Vanier again. Vanier is covering up and Woodard is landing bombs going for the finish. He is landing at will and it’s all over.

Toby Imada vs. Josh Shockley

Round 1 – Shockley getting his jab on early. Shockley lands a right hand then shoots for the take down. Not sure if this is really where he wants to be with Imada but we will see. Imada has his foot on the hip… here comes a submission attempt. Imada turns his hips and locks up an arm. Shockley stands and tries to slam out of the submission but his arm gets caught, but it looks like his arm may of broke on impact. Fight’s over fans.

Rob McCullough vs. Patricky Freire

Round 1 – Rob comes forward with a kick but gets caught with a nice counter right hand by Freire. They square off and exchange with a big flurry. Freire comes forward and lands a straight right hand, then a big left hand that drops McCullough. Freire moves to full mount right off the bat. McCullough is in trouble. Freire postures and punches and McCullough rolls giving up his back. Freire has one hook in, but is landing some nice right hands from the top. Freire locks up the rear naked choke and McCullough is fighting off a deep submission. McCullough survives for the moment but still has Freire riding his back. McCullough is bleeding badly. McCullough trying to land punches from a seated position. After a scramble, Rob ends up on top and in a triangle. He works free and stands over the open guard of Freire. McCullough kicking the legs of Freire now. Freire is smiling from his back as Rob fails to commit to any type of attack. Finally McCullough dives in and lands some hammer fists just before the bell. ProMMAnow.com scores an easy 10-9 round for Freire.

Round 2 – Kick from McCullough again, and again, Freire counters with the right hand. McCullough mixing up his strikes now. Setting up his punches with kicks from the outside. Freire comes forward with a 3 punch combo, then a kick. Nice jab/leg kick from McCullough. Freire comes forward and lands a big left hook. McCullough’s corner wants him to stay away from the left but so far he hasn’t done it. More kicks from McCullough. Big straight right hand from McCullough, but Freire walks right through it. McCullough triples up on his jab then lands a right hand. Freire comes back and lands another left hand but McCullough is really putting his combos together now. His kicks are scoring big points for him now. Freire lands an inside leg kick, then checks a body kick from McCullough. Freire has had enough of the kicks. He shoots and gets a take down. Freire has the mount but it’s against the cage. McCullough rolls and Freire gets one hook in. McCullough is fighting the hands of Freire, then explodes into a reversal, rolling free. He is on top now and he is punishing Freire with shots to the body and hammer fists to the head. ProMMAnow.com scores Round 2 for McCullough, 10-9.

Round 3 – Nice comeback from the former WEC champion. It looks like the fight will come down to the 3rd and final round. Jabs from both guys to start the final round. McCullough fakes the kick, then he lands a trio of leg kicks. Double jab, then a right hand from McCullough. Freire working on his jab but he’s getting outworked. Both guys trade kicks. McCullough comes down the pipe with a flush straight right hand. Reaching jab from Freire, and he pays for it, eating a leg kick. McCullough has his timing down pat now. Very nice punch/kick combos from Rob. Double jab from McCullough, and Freire sneaks in a left hand. Freire is not putting multiple punches together, until I just typed that. Freire with the right hand lead, and a left hook that lands flush. Inside leg kick from McCullough, and Freire counters with a crushing right hook that drops McCullough! Freire lands two more punches before the ref comes in and stops it. What a finish!
