Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi could end up facing grappling phenom Roger Gracie at the promotion’s March 5 show in Columbus, Ohio, according to MMAWeekly.com.
The report says that both fighters have verbally agreed to the match-up.
Gracie (4-0) is coming off of a big win over longtime veteran Trevor Prangley on Jan. 29. He is now 2-0 under the Strikeforce banner.
Mousasi (30-3-1), meanwhile, hasn’t competed for Strikeforce since losing his title to Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal. Following the loss, Mousasi competed two more times in 2010 for DREAM, beating Tatsuya Mizuno and Jake O’Brien. Before joining Strikeforce, Mousasi had won the DREAM middleweight grand prix, defeating Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Melvin Manhoef, Dong Sik Yoon, and Denis Kang.
The March 5th event is like in oh… 6 days!
Don’t think they’re going to add a fight of this quality in less than a week.
