With UFC on Versus 3 right around the corner, one bout has been left one man short, as Cub Swanson (15-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has been forced to pull out of the event due to an undisclosed injury. Swanson has had issues with his hands in the past, but there is no official word at this time as to the extent of his injury. He was scheduled to do battle with Erik Koch (11-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at the March 3 card.

Sources close to the bout confirmed that Swanson had been removed from the card, and Koch’s Twitter reflected the news with three simple words: “Cub is out…..”

MMA Junkie initially reported the news.

It was to be the UFC debut for both fighters, after moving from the ranks of the WEC over to the Octagon.

At this time, Koch is expected to remain on the card next week, as the promotion scrambles to find a last minute replacement for Swanson.
