One of the biggest characters in MMA history will return to action… sort of. Kimbo Slice has agreed to make his professional wrestling debut against Shinichi Suzukawa at an upcoming Inoki Genome Federation show on Feb. 5 in Fukuoka, Japan.

The match will be part of the IGF 8-man title tournament, which will also feature Strikeforce heavyweight Josh Barnett. FightOpinion reported the addition on Tuesday.

Suzukawa, or “Wakakirin,” was originally scheduled to face Bob Sapp in a modified MMA rules contest at Dynamite!! 2010. At the last moment, Sapp pulled out of the fight claiming that he agreed to a staged wrestling match and not an MMA fight.

“Wakakirin” holds the unique distinction of being the first sumo wrestler forced out due to testing positive for marijuana. He made waves last year for turning a professional wrestling match against Mark Coleman into a shoot.

Last August, news broke that Kimbo Slice, real name Kevin Ferguson, had signed a contract with boxing promoter and former Elite XC boss Gary Shaw. Ferguson was to begin training and debut in either October or December 2011 according to ESPN.com.

Ferguson fought six times for the UFC and Elite XC between 2007 and 2010. He holds a 4-2 record and has participated in some of the most watched fights in MMA history.
