At Wednesday’s open workouts for “Strikeforce Challengers 13” I had the opportunity and great pleasure of talking with one of the most respected boxing coaches in the game, 1976 Olympic gold medalist Howard Davis Jr. Fans will remember Davis as part of Team Liddell’s coaching staff on The Ultimate Fighter season 11. He is also the head boxing instructor at American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Fla., where he works with such talent as Thiago Alves, Mike Brown, Jeff Monson and Cole Miller, to name just a few.

Davis will be cornering 2004 Olympian judoka Dr. Rhadi Ferguson on Friday as he makes his Strikeforce debut. We here at ProMMAnow.com have spoken with Dr. Ferguson extensively about his MMA career and his plans, however, I was happy to be able to speak to his coach, someone who has been working with him day-in and day-out, to get his perspective on how Dr. Ferguson is progressing with his MMA, to get his thoughts on just how far someone as talented as the judoka can go and to talk about the last minute change in opponents.
