Fight Hub's Marcos Villegas talks to Antonio McKee regarding his upcoming UFC debut.

Antonio McKee (25-3-2) says he’s toning down the rhetoric a little bit now that he’s with the UFC and plans to do his talking inside the cage. McKee makes his Octagon debut at UFC 125 this Saturday against Jacob Volkmann (11-2).

Although Volkmann is a three-time Division I All-American and a world champion grappler, McKee says he does not consider him a threat, and thinks Volkmann is “at the wrong place at the wrong time.”

McKee believes he is the top lightweight in the world and says that everyone who has been comparing him to Georges St-Pierre has it backwards, that GSP needs to be compared to him because he “has been in the fight game a lot longer.”

McKee has been fighting professionally since 1999 and GSP turned pro in 2002. So, technically he is correct. McKee is also riding an enormous 14-fight win streak with victories over such names as Marcus Aurelio, Mike Dolce, Ronald Jhun, Carlo Prater and most recently, Luciano Azevedo.

Although plenty of people may be turned off by McKee’s braggadocio, and others may find his wrestling style and tendency to go to a decision to be a bit boring, but the fact remains he has not lost a fight since 2003 when Karo Parisyan defeated him via unanimous decision at UAGF 3 in California.

McKee says he does not see Frankie Edgar being able to defeat Gray Maynard in the UFC 125 main event. He also says he thinks the people would like to see him fight Edgar, but is ready to fight anyone including Penn, Sherk, Edgar and others.

Finally, McKee has one last message for Volkmann who’s nickname is “Christmas”. He says we won’t be celebrating Christmas this year, we’ll be celebrating Kwanzaa. UFC 125 takes place this Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., and will air LIVE on Pay-Per-View.

  1. Tom Jackson voice: “Cmon man.”

I have to say I am very interested to see who wins the wrestling battle between these two.
