Strikeforce Heavyweight champ Alistair Overeem (top) made history last weekend by also winning the K-1 2010 World Grand Prix.

Strikeforce has a solid group of top-level heavyweights on its roster, including Alistair Overeem, Fabricio Werdum, Fedor Emelianenko, and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. To leverage the strength of that division, the promotion may hold an eight-man tournament in 2011, according to Tatame.

The report also says that the Fedor vs. Silva bout — which had been rumored for Jan. 29 before M-1 officials stated the fight would not happen that early — has been agreed to for a date in February. However, there isn’t a Strikeforce event currently scheduled for that month. After the Challengers show on Jan. 7 and the Jan. 29 event in San Jose, the next Strikeforce show is tentatively scheduled for March 5 in Columbus, Ohio, the same weekend as the Arnold Fitness Weekend.

Other rumored match-ups in the Tatame report include Werdum vs. Sergei Kharitonov, Brett Rogers vs. Josh Barnett, and Overeem vs. Andrei Arlovski.
