Recent media reports suggested that Strikeforce and K-1 World Grand Prix champion Alistair Overeem could face fellow Strikeforce competitor and former WWE wrestler Bobby Lashley at the Dynamite!! New Year’s Eve event in Japan. A message tweeted by Strikeforce matchmaker Rich Chou added to the speculation and led to at least one report stating that the fight was confirmed.

However, Strikeforce spokesman Mike Afromowitz told ProMMAnow.com via email that the fight has not been confirmed, and Head Kick Legend published a story saying that Lashley’s camp turned down the offer, concerned about preparing for Overeem on such short notice.

DREAM currently has ten match-ups set for the Dec. 31 show.

Ikuhisa “Minowaman” Minowa vs. Hiroshi Izumi

Hayato Sakurai vs. Jason High

Hideo Tokoro vs. Kazuhisa Watanabe

Gegard Mousasi vs. Kyotaro (K-1 rules)

Marius Zaromskis vs. Kazushi Sakuraba

Shinya Aoki vs. Yuchihiro Nagashima (alternating K-1 and MMA rules by round)

Kazuyuki Miyata vs. Caol Uno

Tetsuya Yamoto vs. Akiyo “Wicky” Nishiura (K-1 rules)

Bibiano Fernandes vs. Hiroyuki Takaya (DREAM featherweight title)
