Marcos from FightHub caught up with legendary boxing trainer Freddie Roach recently to talk about his work with UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. Roach hooked up with St-Pierre in the Philippines recently and spent two days with the Champ. He said GSP wanted him to work his corner in his upcoming fight with Josh Koscheck but a prior commitment will prevent it.

Roach calls GSP a “great student” and says that his boxing ability is getting a lot better. Specifically, he says St-Pierre “is not so tight” and is loosening up with his punches. Roach tells an interesting story of when he introduced St-Pierre to Manny Pacquiao for the first time.

Roach talks about some specific things he helped St-Pierre with for Koscheck and predicts the Champ will knock Koscheck out with a left hook  at UFC 124 on Dec. 11. Roach reveals a game plan they set up and said he can make it public because “he [Koscheck] can’t stop from doing it because it’s one of his habits.”

Roach repeatedly refers to St-Pierre’s boxing as “tight” and “stiff”. He says he’s very heavy-handed and was a little slow at first, but one of the main things he’s been working on with him is how to loosen up. Now he says with the speed, strength and power that he has, “he is becoming a much better puncher.” — Roach had one thing to say about Koscheck, aside from GSP will knock him out – “I hear he’s a cocky guy.”
