UFC middleweight Gerald Harris (17-3) has been released from the UFC following his unanaimous decision loss to Maiquel Falcao, according to multiple media sources.

Evan Shoman of TapouT Radio initially broke the news on The Underground message board and MMAWeekly has also confirmed that Harris was cut.

The news was recently confirmed by Gerald Harris himself on his official Twitter account:

Although Harris had little success in the first two rounds against Falcao and both fighters heard a chorus of boos in the final stanza with a lack of activity from both men, Harris had won his first three UFC fights, all by stoppage, as part of a ten fight win streak. Harris also competed in The Ultimate Fighter Season 7, losing to eventual winner Amir Sadollah.

However, Harris isn’t the first fighter with a winning record in the Octagon to receive his walking papers. TUF 8 participant Eliot Marshall went 3-1 in the UFC but was released after a split decision loss to Vladimir Matyushenko. Also, TUF 8 lightweight winner Efrain Escudero was cut after going 3-2 in the UFC.
