UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard will face Yves Edwards this January.

The UFC is putting together a possible Fight Night or UFC on Versus card with a lightweight bout between Melvin Guillard and Yves Edwards and a welterweight contest between Charlie Brenneman and Amilcar Alves, according to MMAJunkie.com.

The event could take place on Jan. 22, but the details have not been finalized, according to the report.

Guillard has won six of his last seven UFC fights but delivered an underwhelming performance at UFC 119 in pulling off a close split decision win over Jeremy Stephens. Edwards, once considered the top lightweight in the UFC before the promotion temporarily abandoned the weight class, has revived his once sputtering career by winning five of his last six, including a victorious return to the UFC last month over John Gunderson.

Both Brenneman and Alves will look to recover from losses in their most recent fights. After winning his UFC debut against Jason High, Brenneman suffered a second-round TKO loss to Johny Hendricks at UFC 117, while Alves came up short in his first UFC appearance, picking up a third-round submission loss at the hands of Mike Pierce at UFC 118.
