BROOMFIELD, Colo. – Fighter weigh-ins for “WEC 51: Aldo vs. Gamburyan” took place Wednesday at the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colo.
All 22 fighters made weight without issue, though the mullet-rocking Hispanic Miguel Torres had to get nude to make the 136 lb. bantamweight non-title fight limit.
It was a tense moment as lightweights Jamie Varner and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone faced off. If we didn’t know better we might have thought the two were Eskimos by the way they touched noses, but that was no affectionate nose-rubbing, that was two warriors all up in each other’s grill.
WEC 51 takes place Thursday night, Sept. 30, also at the 1STBANK Center, and will air LIVE on VERSUS at 9 p.m. ET. The event is headlined by a bantamweight title fight between Jose Aldo, defending his belt against former Ultimate Fighter finalist Manny Gamburyan.
