Strikeforce not only announced the acquisition of heavyweight Josh Barnett today, but they have also confirmed through multiple sources that American Top Team fighter Jorge Masvidal (20-6) has signed a six-fight, two-year contract with the San Jose based organization.

Masvidal is coming off a high profile Pay-Per-View bout against Paul Daley this past weekend at Shark Fights 13. Although Daley was awarded the unanimous decision, it was far from a dominating performance (it was also at welterweight).

In fact, in an interview with Budhhasport, Masvidal called the fight with Daley “bullshit.” Most likely he’s referring to the judges awarding Daley the win, a decision he was visibly displeased with Saturday night.

Masvidal, who will be dropping back down to his normal fight weight of 155 lbs., wanted to make his intentions known that he’s gunning for Strikeforce’s big names,

“Let the world know I am going to knock out everybody they put in front of me. I don’t have an opponent yet but I want a big fight; you know. I want Melendez or the next big name. No B level fighters. Beerbohm is good but nobody really knows him. I would like to get Kawajiri, that would be great.”

Masvidal does have two previous bouts under the Strikeforce banner. In Sept. 2007, he scored a first round TKO over Matt Lee at the Playboy Mansion and in Feb. 2008 he won a unanimous decision overy Ryan Healy at Strikeforce at the Dome.

Here’s an interview with Jorge right after the bout with Daley:
