Diego Sanchez (left) back where he belongs, with coach Greg Jackson

After about a three year absence, like the prodigal son returning home, current UFC welterweight Diego Sanchez has confirmed he will be returning to the camp that helped turn him into a household name and a bonafide UFC superstar, Jackson’s MMA.

Sanchez confirmed the news via Twitter (@diegonightmare) on Tuesday:

It’s official I’m 100% back at team jacksons about to gear up and spar.. My heart is very warm at the moment ;)

Team Jackson also made the announcement on their Twitter account (@jacksonsmma) on Tuesday and posted a video of Sanchez back in the gym with other team members:

Sanchez left Team Jackson in 2007 after learning Georges St-Pierre would be training under coach Greg Jackson. Sanchez saw this as a conflict of interest.

Sanchez currently holds a record of 25-4. Three of those losses occurred after he left Team Jackson, including his last two fights, a unanimous decision loss to B.J. Penn at UFC 107 and a split decision loss to John Hathaway at UFC 114.

Sanchez is scheduled to face Paulo Thiago (15-2) at UFC 121 on Oct. 23 in Anaheim, Calif. Now back at welterweight and reunited with the coach that helped mold him, look for Sanchez and his warm heart to get back on the winning track.
