The scheduled 145 lb. bout between Shana Olsen (4-0) and Erin Toughill (10-2-1) at “Strikeforce: Houston” on Aug. 21 has been called off due to problems Toughill was having cutting weight.

Strikeforce Director of Cummunications Mike Afromowitz confirmed the bout cancellation with ProMMAnow.com this afternoon.

Toughill is currently on a four fight win streak, although it has been over a year since she has competed. Her last bout was a unanimous decision win over Emily Thompson at “Palace Fighting Championship 13” in May 2009.

Olsen, much younger in her career, has only had four professional bouts; all wins, two by knockout, one submission, and one decision. Her most recent bout was a unanimous decision win over Yoko Takahashi at Cage Fighting Xtreme back in April.

However, despite Olsen’s inexperience she has not been intimidated by the veteran. In fact, Olsen hinted at the fact that maybe the sport has passed Toughill by. Also, knowing Toughill was having trouble making weight, Olsen said on Wednesday,

“I’m still ready to go on August 21st. If you can handle it, put down the fork, put on your running shoes and meet me in Houston.”

Both ladies went back and forth at each other like this online this past week with some pretty entertaining smack talk. Since fans are not going to get to see this battle inside the cage, at least we might get some more verbal sparring from the female fighters.
