Brendan “The Hybrid” Schaub will be looking to continue his climb up the ranks of the UFC’s Heavyweight division, facing off against former contender Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 121: Lesnar vs. Velasquez.
Sportsnet.ca first reported the bout, and ProMMAnow.com has since confirmed that bout agreements are close to being finalized.
Schaub (6-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) is coming off a 67-second beat down of Chris Tuchscherer at UFC 116. The very athletic and explosive Schaub, has never been out of the first round, averaging a mere 58-seconds per appearance in the Octagon during his six wins.
Gonzaga (11-5), himself once on the fast track as one of the UFC’s top Heavyweights after starting his Octagon career at 4-0, has went 1-2 in his last three appearances, including TKO losses to Junior dos Santos and Shane Carwin.
