Pedro Rizzo

It’s time for church all you heathens. Now sit down and listen to the MMA gospel.

Impact FC held its second show in two weeks in the land down under Saturday night. In the main event MMA legends Pedro Rizzo and 46-year-old Ken Shamrock went at it. While Shamrock did look better than he has in years, that’s not saying much. The only thing that means is he didn’t immediately crumble when he got hit. Rizzo molested Shamrock with brutal leg kicks that eventually took all fight and mobility out of the MMA pioneer. “Big” John McCarthy was the ref and stopped it at 3:33 in the first. Check out the video here: Shamrock vs. Rizzo.

•Speaking of “Big” John McCarthy, the rumor is he will make his return to the UFC as referee when White and Co. bring their show to San Diego, Calif., on Aug. 1 with their UFC on Versus card headlined by Jon Jones vs. Vladimir Matyushenko. It’s hard to believe “Big” John has not reffed a UFC event since Dec. 2007.

Paulo Filho looked great at the Impact FC show. He and Denis Kang fought a very evenly matched bout that ended in a draw. It was probably the best fight of the night in my opinion and it was good to see Filho performing up to his capability again. If you didn’t see the fight check it out here: Part 1, Part 2.

ProMMAnow.com added some new videos to our Fight Videos page including a rare Fedor Emelianenko training seminar. If you are a fighter, train MMA, or just a big Fedor fan, it is a must see.

Robert Drysdale

David Heath defeated Jason Kucher via third round TKO at Heat XC 5: Punishment in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Friday night. Here are the complete results.

•The ex-UFC fighter who had an MMA site dedicated to the worst performance of his career, Kalib Starnes (11-5-1), submitted Nick Hinchliffe (15-6) with an armbar in the first round of their “Armageddon Fighting Championship 3” main event bout Saturday night in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

•Also fighting on the AFC 3 card, and making his professional MMA debut was none other than BJJ god Robert Drysdale (1-0). Not surprisingly, Drysdale defeated his opponent, Bastien Huveneers (8-3-1) with a first round arm triangle. Here is the Drysdale fight video and the “AFC 3: Evolution” full results.

•Rumors abound that Jake Shields‘ first opponent in the UFC will be a welterweight bout against Martin Kampmann. Shields’ official signing with the organization looms.

•UFC heavyweight Sean McCorkle has some unkind words for King Mo. He compares Mo’s title to winning a Latin Grammy, or being the best player on your junior varsity team, or staying at the best Motel 6, or… well you get the picture.

•Finally, we’ll leave you with this. We’re two weeks away from UFC on Versus 2, here’s a promo video to help get you hyped. See ya next time, Amen.
