Travis Paulson put together quite a weekend a the 2010 U.S. World Team Trials. After finishing second last year, Paulson defeated 2008 Olympian Ben Askren and his twin brother to take the challenge tournament. He then won two straight matches against U.S. Open champion Andrew Howe to earn a spot on the World Team.

Brent Metcalf finished his collegiate career at the University of Iowa with his second title less than two months ago. Now, he can say that he has made his first World Team. After entering the field as a wild card, he plowed through the challenge tournament to earn a shot at U.S. Open champion Jared Frayer. Metcalf dropped the first match, but he was able to win the next two in three periods and earn a spot on the team.

This winners from this past weekend will head to Moscow in September for the FILA World Championships. For information on and match video from the 2010 U.S. Open, check out TheMat.com.
