Remember the Ishii and UFC storyline?

Earlier this week, ProMMANow.com posted Satoshi Ishii’s first professional victory. Today, Hawaiian promotion X-1 announced his next fight. Ishii will face Myles Tynanes at X-1’s “Worlds Collide” on June 4 in Honolulu, Hi.

Ishii won a gold medal in judo in the over 100 kg division at the 2008 Olympic games. Almost immediately after his victory, he said that he would be leaving the sport to try his hand at MMA. He made his MMA debut against Hidehiko Yoshida on New Year’s Eve. Yoshida clearly got the better of the striking exchanges and took home a unanimous-decision victory.

Since then he has picked up a pair of victories including one as an amateur and one as a professional. In March, he defeated Sasae Paogofie by submission in an amateur contest under the X-1 banner. Last Saturday, he defeated Tafa Misipati by first-round armbar in New Zealand.

Tynanes is 3-1-1 as a professional MMA fighter. His record contains a loss to Wesley “Cabbage” Correira, a victory over Ray Seraille and a draw with Ruben “Warpath” Villareal.

X-1 “Worlds Collide” will also feature UFC veteran Brandon Wolff and Elite XC veteran Poai Suganuma.

  1. This is a good card. Our boy Vitaly Shemetov is in the light heavyweight tournament. I’ve been waiting for American fans to see the Shemetov brothers for years.
