Hermes Franca will compete in a a grappling superfight at the UFC Fan Expo.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Fans of UFC have to be excited about the recent announcement made by President Dana White.

White announced Tuesday on UFC.com that the UFC Fan Expo will now include grappling superfights involving Caol Uno, Hermes Franca, Fredson Paixao and Javier Vazquez.

The event, which will be held May 28-29, will also include ADCC world champion Penny Thomas taking on Shayna Baszler.

“For grappling fans,” White said, “this is an awesome opportunity to see some of the world’s best ground fighters compete against one another.”

The Baszler-Thomas bout kicks off the action May 28 at 1 p.m. PT, followed by a match between Franca, a dangerous Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt, and Bill “The Grill” Cooper. The following day at 1 p.m., Paixao, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu world champion, takes on UFC star and MMA legend Uno.

After that, Vazquez, a Gracie Jiu Jitsu black belt, faces off against Jeff “Pipelayer” Glover in what should be a very intriguing match. Glover is a 23-time Grapplers Quest champ.

All rings of the UFC Fan Expo tournament will be stopped during these superfights and seating will be limited to a first-come, first-served basis.

Tickets for the event are on sale now exclusively at ufcfanexpo.com.

The event leads into the highly-anticipated “UFC 114: Rampage vs. Evans”, a rematch between former light heavyweight champions Rampage Jackson and Rashad Evans.
