Play-by-play:

Antwain Britt vs. Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante

Round 1 – Britt lands a nice left hook right off the bat. They clinch. Fijao throws a knee, slips to the ground, he’s back up. Britt throws some big hands, lands a right jab and a shot to the body. They clinch again, knees from Feijao to the body. Britt rocks Feijao with an uppercut. Feijao backs off, he eats a straight punch. They clinch, Feijao lands a knee to the body. Feijao continually grabbing the Thai plum. Ref separates them. Big right hand rocks Britt, Feijao follows it up with several punches and Britt is out. It’s over folks. Anderson Silva and Nogueira come in to congratulate their fighter.

Roger Gracie vs. Kevin Randleman

Round 1 – Renzo is in Roger’s corner. Roger is much taller than Randleman. Roger has solid black shorts, no sponsor patches or logos. Gracie working a jab on Randleman. Big leg kick by Randleman. Gracie lands a punch, tries to shoot but Randleman shrugs him off. Gracie lands a nice knee as he shot in under Gracie’s jab. Gracie still working the left jab. Leg kick by Randleman scores. Randleman ctaches  Gracie’s kick, lets it go. Gracie continues to punch at Randleman but nothing landing. Gracie lands a knee from the clinch, and again. Randleman pushing Gracie against the cage. Gracie looks for a guillotine, tries to take it to the ground but Randleman is free and back to his feet. Gracie back to his jab. Randleman lands a left hand. I score the round 10-9 for Gracie.

Round 2 – Big body shot by Randleman. Gracie hunting Randleman with punches and lands a couple. Randleman presses Gracie against the cage. Randleman switches levels, looking for the takedown. Gracie  grabs a guillotine, Gracie lands a huge knee that drops Randleman. Randleman grabs Gracie’s leg but Gracie escapes, gets full mount, they scramble and Gracie takes Randleman’s back, flattens him out. Gracie locks on a figure four body lock and is looking for the rear-naked choke. Gracie’s legs are so long that figure four is tight. Randleman defending, but Gracie locks it up and Randleman taps right before going to sleep. Fun fight.

Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza vs. Joey Villasenor

Round 1 – Villasenor would not look at Jacare during the face-off. It’s striker vs. grappler in this one. Jacare with an overhand right, then shoots very fast but Villasenor sprawls. They clinch, and separate, Jacare drives hard and far and puts Villasenor on his back. Jacare in half guard, landing some ground and pound. Jacare gets full mount easily and lands some big punches. Villasenor escapes and gets up back pushing off the cage and flipping over. Jacare goes right back on the offensive and clinches up Villasenor, pushes him against the cage. Knees to the body by Jacare. Jacare dives deep and gets a double leg. Big punches from top position by Jacare. Jacare being very aggressive. Villasenor gets up and eats a few punches from Jacare. Jacare picks him up and slams Villasenor down to the mat. Jacare locks on a kimura, but Villasenor escapes. Villasenor jumps up, throws a couple of shots before the bell rings. I give first round to Jacare easily 10-9.

Round 2 – Jacare lands a right as Villasenor comes in with a punch attempt. Leg kick by Villasenor, and it’s the perfect attempt for Jacare to shoot and put him on his back. Jacare in half guard. Villasenor explodes and gets up. Jacare shoots, Villansenor sprawls and lands a rabbit punch, but Jacare holds on and finally gets the takedown. Jacare in half guard, moves to side control but Villasenor gets out and up. Villasenor lands a left. And another one. Leg kick by Villasenor. Big left hook by Jacare, then shoots and gets the takedown. Jacare in full guard now, landing some ground and pound. Villasenor gets out and up. Jacare shoots and Villasenor sprawls. Closer round but I still give it to Jacare 10-9.

Round 3 – Jacare looks to have slowed a little. Villasenor comes in swinging and lands a couple, one right on the chin. Leg kick by Villasenor. Leg kick by Jacare. Jacare shoots, bounces off the cage, and Villasenor escapes. Villasenor chasing him down with punches. Jacare shoots but Villasenor sprawls. Nice right hand lands for Jacare, lands hard, then Jacare shoots, gets the takedown. Jacare in half guard. Villasenor looking for the escape again. Jacare’s nose bleeding but he’s still controlling the fight. Jacare landing some small elbows and rabbit punches. One minute to go and the ref stands them up. Both fighters land punches. Villasenor throws a knee, Jacare eats it and puts him on his back. Jacare lands a few punches before the bell sounds. I give the round 10-9 and the fight 30-27 to Jacare.

Andrei Arlovski vs. Antonio Silva

Round 1 – Arlovski gets mega-applause. Big John McCarthy is reffing. Arlovski looks in great shape. Leg kick by Arlovski. Ditto by Silva. Leg kick by Arlovski. Silva standing in the pocket with him. Leg kick by Silva. Left hand by Arlovski. Leg kick by Silva, followed by a punch. Arlovski scores with a punch and a leg kick. Big left hook by Silva and Arlovski stands firm. Leg kick by Silva. Right hand by Silva and misses with  a left. Leg kick by Arlovski. Big right hand by Silva, then another shot tags Arlvoski big time and Arlovski still standing firm. Silva clinches and pushes Arlovski against the cage. Arlovski bleeding from the nose and mouth. Silva lands a leg kick and a couple of punches as Arlovski’s back is against the cage. Silva takes one of Arlovski’s legs and throws him to the ground. He dives in with a punch that lands. Silva driving Arlovski into the cage on the ground. Arlovski holding on to Silva’s neck. Arlovski stands, swings and the bell sounds. I score the first round for Silva 10-9. Arlovski got his chin back!! That’s the biggest news of round one.

Round 2 – Arlovski comes right out to the center again. Body kick by Silva. Left hook from Silva. Silva lands another shot. Nice left by Silva. Two big counter punches by Silva knock Arlovski against the cage. Clinched against the cage, Arlovski with underhooks. Silva grabs the Thai clinch while Arlovski works the body. Uppercut by Silva. Ref separates them. Silva shoots and Arlovski sprawls. They go back to the clinch, with Silva pressing Arlovski into the cage. Silva attempts a leg trip, both guys landing knees to the thighs. Ref separates them. Silva moves to south paw. Head kick exchanges. Arlovski with a leg kick. Both throw punches, then they clinch. Silva swings misses. Both guys swing. Leg kick by Arlovski. Arlovski lands a knee to the thighs before the bell sounds. It was a close round. I’ll give that one to Arlovski 10-9. (But I wouldn’t argue with someone who gives it to Silva)

Round 3 – Leg kick Silva, same from Arlovski. Nice body shot by Arlovski. Leg kick by Silva followed by a punch. Clinched against the cage. They exchange knees and the ref separates them. Arlovski comes in punching and Silva lands a couple to counter. Silva lands a couple more and Arlovski clinches, pushes him into the cage. Silva grabs the Thai clinch, Arlovski breaks it free and ref separates them. Left hand by Silva. Left hand by Arlovski then a leg kick. Silva clinches, pushes him against the cage. Silva grabs the double leg and puts Arlovski down. Arlovski has full guard. Silva gets half guard, trying to advance, he postures up and lands a right, back in full guard. Arlovski trying to get up and he does. Knees by Arlovski to the thighs. Bigfoot goads Arlovski to come on but the fight is over. Final round I give to Silva 10-9 and the fight to Silva 29-28.

Notes: This wasn’t a bad fight for Arlovski. In fact, I think it was a moral victory. He survived some big punches. I think  he will be okay. He should have used more leg kicks and he probably could have won this fight.

Alistair Overeem vs. Brett Rogers

[Heavyweight Title Fight]

Notes: Overeem has predicted a first round or early round two knockout. “The Demolition Man” is in America for the first time since 2007 when he beat Paul Buentello for the Strikeforce Heavyweight Title. Hope they have this cage reinforced.

Round 1 – Interesting stare down. Intense. Oh brother… Rogers clinches but Overeem is out. Leg kick by Overeem and again, and again. Rogers swings a couple. Overeem with a leg kick. Overeem tosses Rogers to the canvas and moves into side control. Overeem lands some elbows to the body. Big knee to the body. Overeem presses him against the fence and is using both elbows. Knee on belly. Overeem postures up swings and moves back into side control. Rogers covers up. Overeem lands a couple of big ones. Overeem turns on the heat punch after punch. Rogers covers up but too many get through and Big John stops the fight. Rogers is not complaining and is still on the ground getting tended to by his cornermen. Overeem’s patience was very impressive.

Notes: Overeem says Fedor’s management declined to fight him tonight and he gave respect to Rogers for stepping up, but now he wants Fedor. Indeed, that is the fight that MUST happen. If anyone is going to beat Fedor it may just be this man. Now, lets hope all his tests come back clean.
