ABU DHABI, U. A. E. – On May 14, the Abu Dhabi Fighting Championship will hold “Battle of Champions”, an eight-man open weight professional mixed martial arts grand prix at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre’s Abu Dhabi Hall in the United Arab Emirates.

Top fighters from around the world will gather to compete for a $274,000 grand prize purse. This open weight grand prix will take place over three events, with this Saturday being the quarterfinals, the next event will be the semi-finals, and then the finals.

In addition to the eight-man tournament which features such fighters as Dave “Pee Wee” Herman, Thierry Sokoudjou, Jeff Monson, and Neil Wain, there will be a six-fight preliminary card featuring some of the local region’s rising talent.

Open-weight Grand Prix:

  • Dave Herman vs. Thierry Sokoudjou
  • Jeff Monson vs. Shamil Abdurahimov
  • Johan Romming vs. Marcos Oliveira
  • Przemylaw Mysiala vs. Neil Wain

PRELIMINARY CARD

  • Michele Mirabella vs. Aymen Ben Ali
  • Frank Slater vs. Miaco Reiter
  • Malik Omarov vs. Arzan Quasid
  • Loic Marty vs. Abdallah Abou Hamdan
  • Hassan Al Rumaithi vs. Massimiliano Pecchia
  • Tam Khan vs. Evasio D’onoforio

In the video below, MMA reporter Ariel Helwanni spoke to a representative of Abu Dhabi Fighting Championship when he was in Abu Dhabi to cover UFC 112. At the time, the gentleman would only divulge one fighter on the card. He thought Sergei Kharitonov would be fighting in the grand prix, but he is not.
