MONTREAL, Canada – “UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun 2” takes place tonight at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. The main event features a light heavyweight rematch between the champion Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida and challenger Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

The co-main event features a welterweight bout between American Kickboxing Academy’s Josh Koscheck and England’s Paul Daley. The two will battle it out for the welterweight number one contender spot. Not only will the winner get to face Georges St. Pierre for the UFC Welterweight Title, but he will also get to coach opposite GSP on the next season of Spike TV’s “The Ultimate Fighter”.

UFC 113 also marks the return of Kimbo Slice to the Octagon. After competing as part of Team Jackson on Season 10 of “The Ultimate Fighter”, and defeating Houston Alexander at “The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale” in December, the street-fighting legend returns to face one of his TUF 10 cast mates, former NFL football player Matt Mitrione.

UFC 113 Play-by-Play:

Alan Belcher vs. Patrick Cote

Round 1 – Belcher starts off with a couple of kicks. Another couple of kicks by Belcher, one scores. Cote scores a kick to the leg. Belcher throws three more kicks, a couple land. Cote takes a shot to the groin. The ref holds back Belcher from attacking. Belcher throws several more kicks as Cote comes in swinging. Belcher lands a nice right hand. Belcher lands a sraight right to the chin. Cote with a leg kick. Belcher fires off more kicks. They clinch. Belcher throws a kick, Cote catches it and puts him down on his back. Cote inside Belcher’s half guard and goes for a kimura. Belcher is in a pretty bad position, but he escapes and gets on top in half guard. Nice escape for Belcher. Belcher moves to side control. Cote tries to get up but Belcher puts him back down, throws some punches from the top as the bell sounds. I score the round 10-9 for Belcher.

Round 2 – Leg kick from Belcher, Cote throws a punch. Belcher body kick. Cote with a few punches. Leg kick scores for Cote. Cote scores with a few big punches. Belcher eats them. They clinch against the cage, big right hand by Cote as they exchange punches on the break. Nice knee to the body by Belcher. Cote gets a takedown. Belcher gets up, Cote still has hold of both legs. Belcher just picked him up and slammed him face down on the mat. Belcher jumps on his back and chokes him out. Beautiful finish for Belcher. In the replay it shows Belcher slamming him hard right on his face. Beautiful! Belcher calls out Anderson Silva.

Kimbo Slice vs. Matt Mitrione

Round 1 – Meathead is nuts. He has a huge grin on his face like he’s about to eat a big Kimbo sandwich. This guy will not stop grinning. He looks like it’s Christmas morning. Kimbo is as serious as ever. Stone cold Kimbo. Head kick by Mitrione misses. Big right by Kimbo. Mitrione tries to kick him and Kimbo slams him twice BIG. Mitrione locks up a triangle. Kimbo is free and in side control. They’re talking to each other. Mitrione has half guard now and is controlling Kimbo very well. Body shots from Kimbo. Mitrione gets to his feet. Kimbo gets another takedown and is inside Mitrione’s guard. Mitrione looks for a triangle. Kimbo lets him up. Right hand by Kimbo. Head kick misses for Mitrione. Kimbo swings big and misses. Knee to the head by Mitrione. Right hand by Kimbo. Kimbo gets dropped with a kick to his leg and Mitrione locks on a anaconda choke with ten seconds left and Kimbo rides it out. Close round. I give it to Kimbo 10-9.

Round 2 – Mitrione lands a nice left. Mitrione kicks and Kimbo drives in and pushes him against the cage. Mitrione lands a couple of lefts then a couple of big leg kicks. Another big leg kick by Mitrione and Kimbo is hurt badly. They go to the mat briefly but Mitrione lets him up. Mitrione tags the leg again, he’s picking Kimbo apart with punches now, knees to the body. Kimbo grabbed a leg but had no strength to take him down. Mitrione tries to lock on a choke as Kimbo goes to the mat. Big knees by Mitrione. Mitrione mounts and starts pounding on Kimbo. Mitrione locks on an Americana and he tweaks it hard but Kimbo won’t tap. The ref stops it as Kimbo offers nothing but covering his face. Kimbo comes out and tells all the mothers Happy Mother’s Day.

Jeremy Stephens vs. Sam Stout

Round 1 – My two cohorts picked Stout. Leg kick by Stephens. Left hook by Stephens. Leg kick by Stout and Stephens catches it and punches him with his right and takes Stout to the ground. Stout is up. Leg kick Stephens. Left hook by Stephens again, and a right hand. Big right hand by Stephens. Leg kick by Stout. Another big leg kick by Stout. Body shot by both guys. Stout with a body punch. Inside leg kick from Stout. Stephens drops him with a right and give s him a big knee on the way up. Leg kick by Stout. Inside leg kick twice for Stout. Spinning backfist scores for Stephens. Both guys swing and Stout scores. Stout with another leg kick. Body kick by Stephens, then a leg kick. Nice right by Stephens. Body shot by Stout. Leg kick by Stout, returned by Stephens. Body kick by Stephens. I give the first round to Stephens 10-9.

Round 2 – Stout lands a leg kick and Stephens tries to time it and he does this time . He catches it and lands a big right. Stephens jumps on him and Stout goes for a kimura. Stephens has his legs and finally lets him up. Stout seems to be the more technical striker but Stephens has the power. Stout doesn’t seem too worried about his power though. Inside leg kick by Stout. Stout being much more active in the attack now. Nice body punch by Stout. Stout eats a inside leg kick. Big overhand right skims Stout’s head. Stephens goes for a takedown, followed by an overhand right. Nice left hook by Stephens, then a big right. I give that round to Stout 10-9.

Round 3 – Stout with an inside leg kick catches Stephens in the groin. Ref gives him time out. Right leg kick by Stephens and a nice right hand and a body kick. Stephens looks for a takedown, no dice. Stout counters with a couple of punches. Right hand by Stephens. Nice left jab by Stephens then a knee to the face. Stephens is hurt with something, possibly a low blow. Stout comes in and drops him and is now in Stephens full guard. Rogan says it was a leg kick that hurt Stephens. Stout lets Stephens up. Stephens with a flying knee that misses. Stephens throws a huge uppercut that misses. Stephens swings big looking to land but nothing connects solid. Stephens gets a takedown but Stout gets right up. Wow nice fight. Got to give the round 10-9 and the fight 29-28 to Sam Stout. The crowd is absolutely silent as the result is announced.

Paul Daley vs. Josh Koscheck

Round 1 – No touch of gloves. “No?” says the ref. Flying knee by Daley to start. Daley stalking. Daley with a left jab. Daley with a low stance in anticipation of the takedown, and Kos grabs a single and puts him down. Daley gets up and gets slammed on his neck. Big slam. Kos now tied up in half guard. Knee to the body by Kos.Kos has Daley pressed up against the cage, looking for the ground and pound. Daley with full guard, and Kos moves to side control and takes Daley’s back. Kos gets in one hook. Kos locks on the rear-naked, Daley gets out and gives him a big illegal knee to the face. Kos is hurt and on his back. The replay shows the knee didn’t hit him. Weird. Rogan says, “And the Oscar goes to..” The fight continues and Daley was deducted a point. Kos grabs a clinch before the bell sounds. I give Kos that round 10-8 because of the point deduction. Okay, no point deduction they say, so 10-9.

Round 2 – Kos lands a nice right hook. Kos drives for a takedown, picks Daley up and puts him down. Kos has side control, moves to half guard, then mount, but Daley recovers half guard, and Kos moves to full guard, and Daley recovers half guard again. Kos trying to work from the top with a few elbows. No damage being done, Daley defending well. Kos gets mount for about a second and Daley recoers half guard. Kos trying to work from the top but no damage being done. Kos puts him aagainst the cage and takes Daley’s back with a minute to go in the round. Kos has only one hook in, now has both hooks in. Kos tries to loosen him up with shots. I give the round 10-9 to Kos.

Round 3 – Daley comes in swinging, lands a straight left. Daley with a left, another left, and a knee to the face as Koscheck shoots. Kos gets another takedown, lands in half guard. Kos landing a few shots from top position. Kos gets side mount, then full mount. Daley squirming and defending punishment but Kos still has mount. Kos postures up but is doing no damage. The crowd boos at the lack of punishment. Daley got up after the fight walked over and punched Koscheck. Dan Miragliotta grabs him pulls him over to the side and says, “Are you kidding me.” Rogan said it was the best shot he landed in the whole fight and they said he should get suspended.

Notes: Kos eats up the heel role after the fight by telling the Canadians Pittsburgh will beat them next week in hockey, and then he’s going to beat GSP, so they are going to lose twice. Now that is funny.

Light Heavyweight Title Fight

(Champion) Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio Rua

Round 1 – Here we go… round six. Leg kick Shogun. Leg kick Shogun. Another leg kick from Shogun. Leg kick from Shogun and Machida gets a takedown and has half guard. Shogun is back up, puts a knee in Machida’s thighs. Machida breaks free. Shogun nails Machida with a punch and a leg kick. Machida gets the takedown. Machida has half guard. Shogun is back up and takes a knee to the body. Shogun punishes his legs with a knee. Lyoto with a nice knee to the body. Shogun drops Machida with a couple of punches and then knocks Machida unconscious. Muay Thai defeats any type of Karate. Period. Shogun has just cemented himself as the number one light heavyweight in the world and the new UFC champion.

Note: They show a close up of Machida’s face and there is a huge hematoma below his left eye. Nasty.
