Tito Ortiz with lawyer Chip Matthews

“I want to be quite clear, Tito Ortiz never laid a hand on Jenna. Never.”

Those were the words of Tito Ortiz’s lawyer Chip Matthews Monday evening at a press conference, as he stood next to the UFC fighter who had been arrested earlier in the day on alleged domestic violence charges filed by his girlfriend and mother of his twin boys, Jenna Jameson.

Matthews claimed Jameson has been battling an addiction to the prescription painkiller Oxycontin and she had a relapse Monday morning.

“Unfortunately this morning when Jenna relapsed and Tito confronted her and asked her about the drugs he had found, she denied it and had some emotional breakdown over it. As Tito was leaving she contacted the police department through another individual.”

Ortiz fought back tears as he talked about his parents’ drug addiction and his desire not to have his own family go through the same thing.

“I hold everything dear to my heart that Jenna will be okay.”

Matthews reiterated multiple times that Ortiz was innocent and these allegations were brought about because of Jameson’s drug use. Ortiz thanked his friends and fans for their continued support.

When Jameson was notified of Ortiz’s press conference and accusations of drug use, she said, “Talk about trying to save somebody’s ass from being a wife beater… He’s trying to save his career.”

There have been photos and videos showing Jameson with a bandage on her arm and also with her arm in a sling. Matthews attributed this to Jameson’s drug use, and said “When there is drug use a lot of times people want to play the victim.”

However, Matthews did say Jameson does have a scratch on her elbow, and that it is stated in the police report.

Matthews said Ortiz had received many generous and supportive phone calls from fellow fighters.
