Bellator 15 results and play-by-play

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – Bellator 15 takes place Thursday evening, April 22, at the Mohegan Sun and will broadcast on FOX Sports Net. The main event features a welterweight tournament match-up between Dan Hornbuckle (19-3) and Tyler Stinson (16-5), the winner of Bellator’s recent open tryout in Kansas City.

Ryan Thomas gets a second chance tonight after his controversial submission loss last week against Ben Askren. (FW quarterfinal) Will Romero vs. Patricio Pitbull

Round 1 – Pitbull gets a takedown. Pitbull goes for a heel hook. Romero escapes, they scramble a little and Pitbull gets hold of his foot again. He has it this time and forces the tapout.

(WW quarterfinal) Jacob McClintock vs. Ryan Thomas

Round 1 – McClintock swings big. Thomas shoots, goes for the takedown but McClintock reverses and takes Thomas’ back. McClintock has his hooks in. Thomas explodes, turns, and ends up on top in full guard. Thomas using ground and pound from inside McClintock’s guard. Thomas with nice ground and pound, landing some nice shots on McClintock’s face. Thomas traps both McClintock’s arms and landing shots from half guard. McClintock goes for an armbar but Thomas is out, and continues the punishment. The referee stops the bout after repeated punches to the face. Ryan Thomas makes the most of his second chance.

(WW quarterfinal) Dan Hornbuckle vs. Tyler Stinson

Round 1 – Intense staredown. This is the biggest fight of Stinson’s life. Right jab scores for Hornbuckle. Knee to the face by Stinson. Leg kick by Stinson. Hornbuckle shoots and Stinson stuffs it. Hornbuckle looks for an armbar, then a triangle. Hornbuckle is extremely flexible. It’s a tight triangle, and Stinson tries to punch his way out. After about 30 seconds Tyler Stinson taps out to the triangle choke.
