One of the UFC’s top lightweight contenders, Kenny “KenFlo” Florian (13-4) has been admitted to the hospital for a staph infection and will have to undergo minor surgery according to the fighter’s Twitter account.

On Sunday, April 11, Kenny posted on his Twitter account:

“Last 2 days have been brutal. Staph infection has been extremely painful. Knee looks disgusting. Two distinct blisters of pus are forming.”

Then sometime around 2:00 p.m. CT today, Kenny posted on Twitter:

“Being admitted to the hospital. Not good. Minor surgery & IV antibiotics on the way. Damn!!”

Apparently Kenny was fighting the staph infection even prior to the Gomi fight at “UFC on Versus 1” on March 31.

Thanks to Aaron Richman at MMA Fight Council for the tip.
