Mike Straka, representing FIGHT! Magazine caught up with Jon “Bones” Jones prior to “UFC 111: St. Pierre vs. Hardy” in Newark, N.J. to talk about a number of topics, including his vicious elbows that injured Brandon Vera at “UFC on Versus 1”.

He said he doesn’t take pride in injuring his opponents, knowing they have bills to pay and families to feed, but it is part of the game.

Jones said elbows are the perfect short range weapon for him.

Jones also discussed the difference training with Greg Jackson has made. Along with the confidence training with Jackson brings, he said the biggest thing is the holes in his game are closing up slowly.

Jones admitted it’s an honor to be compared to the likes of Anderson Silva or Lyoto Machida and, “If anything, it’s just going to make me work harder.”
