This weekend Chad Mendes will make his promotional debut on the undercard of WEC 47 against Erik Koch. So far in his MMA career, Mendes has defeated all five of his opponents. Before coming to MMA he wrestled for Cal Poly where he was a two-time All-American and the 2008 Pac-10 wrestler of the year. During his senior year he was ranked number one for a majority of season before losing in the finals to Ohio State’s Jeff Jaggers. He finished the season 30-1.

All this video really shows is that Mendes is a beastly wrestler. After hitting his opponent with a cement mixer once, he throws it the opposite way and scores the fall. Although MMA and wrestling are two different sport the explosion and power that Mendes shows in this match clearly crosses over. Right after college he began training MMA with Urijah Faber’s team, which has produced some of the best sub-lightweight fighters in the world. Look for him to continue his winning ways and quickly become one of the top names in the featherweight division.
