Pro MMA Now (www.prommanow.com) captured this video of newly crowned Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz following his dazzling win over Marius Zaromskis at “Strikeforce: Miami” on Jan. 30, 2010.

Diaz talked about using knee strikes to damage the leg of Zaromskis when he had him pressed against the cage. “He went ahead and let me put that knee to the leg over and over again. I was like, I’m gonna take what he’s gonna give me. You can’t take knees to the leg like that over and over again… Tomorrow is really gonna be a problem,” explained Diaz.

When asked what is next for him, without hesitation Diaz said, “I want to fight Georges St. Pierre… I want to fight the best. I want to fight the people everyone thinks is the best out there.”

It’s not clear where Diaz wants to fight St. Pierre. He seems to have some conspiracy theories on how fights are judged in the UFC. He insists that his brother, Nate Diaz, did not lose his last fight, which was against Gray Maynard. On top of that, Nick said, “I didn’t lose those fights either, the ones in the UFC – I put the punches in – on Sean Sherk, I took him down. Watch that fight. I took him down. I think people need to learn a little bit more about the sport and start doing what’s right.”

“Obviously I got to go out there and finish guys – They won’t give me decisions – They don’t want me to win,” says Diaz. Even after a beautiful victory over a tough opponent, Diaz still has a huge chip on his shoulder. Is this what makes him a great fighter? Does he need this big salty chip to perform well? One of the side effects of marijuana can be paranoia… I’m just sayin’.

  1. I’d definitely be excited to see Diaz back in the UFC against St. Pierre. I just want Diaz back in the UFC anyway. First thing’s first though… why won’t the Hieron/Diaz fight happen???

  2. It would be nice to see Diaz back in the UFC but going against St. Pierre in his first fight might be a lot to take on.
