Iowa State goes 2-0 during tour of Oklahoma
The No. 2 Cyclones were clearly the story of the weekend as they defeated No. 10 Oklahoma (21-12) of Friday and followed it up with a win over No. 3 Oklahoma State (20-18). Leading them was senior and number one ranked Jake Varner who continued his undefeated streak with two wins over ranked wrestlers. Hawkeyes roll over Purdue
Iowa opened their Big Ten schedule by winning eight of 10 matches to defeat the Boilermakers 41 to 6. No. 1 Brent Metcalf won by disqualification after Nick Betucci continually kneed him in the head from the bottom. Heavyweight Dan Erekson pinned Adam Walls in the first period. It was Erekson’s first action of the season after sitting out with an injury.

Ohio State comes on strong to defeat Sanderson’s Nitany Lions
With the match tied at 3 a piece, No. 3 Reece Humphrey recorded a technical fall over Adam Lynch. From there the Buckeyes did not look back, as they won the dual 21 to 14. At 174 former Penn State wrestling Dave Rella, now wrestling for Ohio State, score a decision over Justin Ortega.
