Brendan Schaub vs. Roy Nelson will fight to determine who wins a six-figure contract with the UFC.

Well, that’s it folks. The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights final episode, a two-hour special, aired Wednesday night on Spike TV. They teased us with a possible Kimbo Slice come back until the very end, but he did not fight again after losing to Roy Nelson earlier in the season.

The first fight of the night was Matt Mitrione vs. James McSweeney. Mitrione looked tough on his feet but McSweeney choked him out with a guillotine, and advanced to the sem-finals.

Next up was Marcus Jones vs. Darrel Schoonover. Most people considered Schoonover a serious threat coming into this fight. Evidently, Jones was not one of them. He took Schoonover down early, there was a scramble, and Jones ends up knocking Schoonover out from inside his guard. It was a big win for the NFL veteran.

In the semi-final match-ups it was James McSweeney vs. Roy Nelson and Marcus Jones vs. Brendan Schaub.

Both fights went fairly quick. Nelson rocked McSweeney with a big punch, then took him down. From there, he was able to put McSweeney in a crucifix position and pound him out. It was a dominant performance once again for “Big Country”, as he moves into the finals.

In the Jones vs. Schaub fight, Jones starts out very strong. He takes Schaub to the ground, passes his guard, and gets full mount. However, Schaub is able to get back to his feet where he has the advantage.

Jones then lands a knee that knocks Schaub backward, but Schaub fires back with a huge right hand that drops “Big Baby” to the canvas. From there, Schaub goes in for the kill and lands a couple of big punches that knocks Jones out.

Brendan Schaub advances to the finals where he will face Roy “Big Country” Nelson. It really is a classic “grappler vs. striker” match-up. Although Schaub has been honing his wrestling and grappling skills in Denver with the likes of Shane Carwin and Justin Wren, his real advantage is going to be in the stand-up.

And for Roy Nelson, he has proven he can definitely hurt you with his hands, but ultimately, he will be wanting to get Schaub to the canvas where he can set up some ground and pound, a crucifix, or submission.

As with every season of The Ultimate Fighter, the winner will receive a six-figure contract with the UFC.

Other fighters from the show who will be fighting in the TUF 10 Finale include, of course, Kimbo Slice who will be taking on the heavy-handed brawler Houston Alexander. This fight won’t last long, that’s for sure. Someone is getting their lights put out in this one.

Also from the show, Marcus Jones and Matt Mitrione will settle their beef, Darrill Schoonover will face James McSweeney in what is sure to be an entertaining fight, and Justin Wren will take on fellow wrestler Jon Madsen.

The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale takes place this Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at the Palms in Las Vegas, Nev. The main card will air live and free on Spike TV beginning at 9PM ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast).
