Sengoku Eleventh Battle live play-by-play

Tonight, live from Japan, on HDNet at 2 am EST World Victory Road will bring Sengoku back to the MMA world with their Eleventh Battle card. Despite Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers being the most talked about even this weekend, this Sengoku card is stacked. The main event will feature a featherweight contenders match between Hatsu Hioki and Michihiro Omigawa. Also on the card Sengoku middleweight champion Jorge Santiago will face Polish superstar Mamed Khalidov in a non-title match. Former UFC heavyweight champion Kevin Randleman is also on the card. The full card is listed below.

Mann comes in with a right but misses. Osawa comes in and eats a solid counter right. Mann gets pushed against the ropes, but he gets a body lock and takes the back. He is working for the choke, but Osawa stays calm. Osawa tries to stand and drills Mann’s head down to the mat. Osawa looks like he might come out the back and does. He avoids the armbar and ends up on top. Mann controls Osawa in the guard. Osawa tries to land, but can’t really posture up. He lands a few light strikes to the back of the head. Mann pulls his guard up, but gets nothing.

Mann forgets his mouth guard, and the referee let”s him get it. Osawa lands a body kick, but eats a right. Mann throws his own body kick and Osawa turns it into a single and takes Mann down. Osawa quickly passes to half guard. Mann tries to grab and single and gets caught in a neck crank/guillotine. Osawa holds a wizar and slaps the ears. The fighters are back to their feet. Overhand left misses for Osawa. Mann shoots a double and is in deep. Osawa is caught on the ropes, but Mann still finishes the takedown. In a scramble Mann takes Osawa’s back again, but he is more on the side. Mann heel kicks Osawa’s ribs. A few hammer fists land for Mann as the round ends.

High kick from Osawa misses. Mann’s high kick is blocked. He lands a right straight. Mann throws another head kick that is blocked. Inside leg kick lands for Osawa. Mann lands a body kick. The referee stops the action to look at the smelling around Osawa’s eye. Mann throws a head kick that lands. Osawa uses it as a takedown. Mann turns it into a triangle, but Osawa passes to half guard. Mann regains full guard. He then pulls rubber guard. Osawa is having a hard time posturing up. The referee breaks the fighters and stands them up. Mann was warned for inactivity. Osawa throws a flurry at the end and lands a few hard strikes. Jim York comes in looking to land. Herman clinches and gets a body lock. He presses York in the corner. Herman tries to knee, but is mostly blocked. He tries to life York, but can’t. Herman moves York off balance and takes York down into half guard. York rolls and gets back to his feet. Herman gets caught with a few hard shots. Herman reaches for a thai clinch and eats a few shots. York stalks Herman who throws crazy kicks and knees. Herman falls to his back and York goes for an Achilles lock. Herman starts heel kick York to the face. York is dazed and Herman sits up and finishes York.

Round 1
Left hook from Hishino starts it out. Sandro lands a leg kick. Hoshino jumps in with another left. Sandro charges in and gets the clinch. Each fighter has an under over. Hoshino goes for a trip, but doesn’t get it. Sandro tries the same trip, and he fails too. The referee breaks them. Sandro comes forward with a combination. They are in another clinch. Hishino is being pressed into the corner. Sandro throws some knees and the referee breaks them again. Sandro lands a big right. Hoshino bounces off the ropes and eats another hard right. Hoshino is out cold.

Round 1
Kim throws out a jab and eats a front kick. Gono is working a traditional Thai stance. He lands a hard leg kick. Leg kick from Kim lands. Gono lands a left hook when Kim comes in. Kim is stalking Gono, and Gono is scoring with leg kicks. Gono lands a hard body kick. Kim throws a one-two, but Gono avoids with good head movement. From the corner Gono lands a left hook. Kim lands a hard right hook to body. Hard straight right to the body from Gono. They trade leg kicks. Gono lands a knee and finishes a clinch takedown. Kim locks in full guard. He then works for a Kimura lock, but Gono shakes it off.

The referee moves the fighters to the center of the ring. Kim throws the legs up, but Gono uses good posture to move out. Gono is on top, but not throwing. Kim works for a Kimura on the right arm. Gono looks calm and eventually limp arms out. Kim throws up the legs again and Gono passes to half guard. Kim regains full guard. They scramble and Gono once again passes to half. With his instep on the half guard he tries to pass, but he is unable. Gono lands a knee to the head, and then passes to side. He lands another knee. Kim returns to his knees and stands up. Both fighters look winded when the bell rings.

Kim comes in with a combination tries to clinch. Gono works his way out. Both fighters throw light leg kicks. Gono lands a hard body shot. He resets and throws a hard right hook that drops Kim. Kim gets to his feet in the corner. He eats more short and takes a knee to the face. Gono jumps in with another left hook and lands and upper cut. Gono jumps in with a left upper cut. The left hook is really starting to land for Gono. Gono lands a high kick and a jumping knee. Kim is hurt. He is in the corner and taking a variety of strikes from Gono, but Gono remains calm. Both fighters throw a lot of feints. Inside kick from Randleman lifts Nedkov’s foot off the ground. Nedkov clinches, but Randleman presses him into the corner and gets the takedown to half guard. With Yokota pressed into the ropes Mitsuoka lands a few strikes. He then works a few shoulder thrusts. The referee breaks the fighters. Yokota just misses a one-two. Round 1
Kitoaka shoots a single right off the bell. Masvidal works for a guillotine choke, but he doesn’t have guard. Kitoaka tries to stay calm and goes for a leg log. Masvidal tries to strike out of it. A lot of the shots land, but Kitoaka will not let go of the hold. Kitoaka is starting to roll with the heel. Masvidal gets out. Kitoaka gets another single and takes his opponent down with a roll through. Masvidal works hard to get back to his feet with a wizar. He eventually gets back to his feet and lands knees and kicks. Masvidal gets on top and starts landing a lot of shots. The barrage keeps coming, and Kitoaka is starting to look warn already. Masvidal goes for a guillotine again and Kitoaka has to roll to his back to get out.

Kitaoka shoot a double and finishes it right away. The two fighters are trying to work, but they are stuck on the ropes. The referee stands them back up. Kitaoka gets another takedown, but he also gets caught in a guillotine again. He goes for a toe hold and eats a lot of shots again. He switches to a heel hock, but Masvidal spins out and ends up on top in full guard. Kitaoka boxes the ears from the bottom. Masvidal stands over him and the referee stands them. Kitaoka’s kick is caught and he ends up on the bottom again. Masvidal lands a hard right and ends the fight.

Round 1
Leg kicks opens for Khalidov. He goes for it again and misses. Santiago goes for a right hand but doesn’t land. Right hand into a body clinch for Santiago. He takes him down to side control, but Khalidov gains half guard quickly. Khalidov strikes a bit from the bottom and hurts Santiago. The positions are reversed and he continues to throw. Santiago is saved by the referee.

Round 1
Omigawa tries to throw a one-two, but he does not have the reach. He tries to come in to the bottom, and gets countered by Hioki. Omigawa comes forward and lands a hard right hand that stuns Hioki. Hioki shoots a single and gets it, but is caught in a guillotine. He clears his head.
He stands and then passes to half guard. Omigawa tries to leg sweep, but Hioki keeps his base. Hioki lands a few shots to the body. Omigawa gets full guard back. The referee turns them back to the center. Omgiawa pushes Hioki away, but as he tries to stand Hioki takes his back. Hioki goes for an armbar from the back. Right before the bell Omigawa frees his arm and lands a few shots from the top.
