Would you like to see Chuck Liddell fight Kimbo Slice?

Does Kimbo Slice deserve the opportunity to fight someone like Chuck Liddell?
Does Kimbo Slice deserve the opportunity to fight a legend like Chuck Liddell?

Realistically, how big could a fight between “The Iceman” Chuck Liddell and Kimbo Slice be? Let’s face it; neither fighter is going to hold a title in the UFC. Chuck’s been there and done that. And Kimbo never will. But as far as pure entertainment goes, I can’t think of a much more exciting fight than Chuck Liddell vs. Kimbo Slice.

Liddell, on Sherdog Radio Monday, talked about the possibility. “Why would anyone even want to see me fight Kimbo?” asked Liddell. “I have no interest in that fight. Whatever. It is what it is. I guess I’d do it, if that’s who I had to fight to come back.”

“The Iceman” said he needed some time off from fighting, and Dancing with the Stars not only gave him something productive to focus on, it helped him stay in shape. Now that he is back in the gym he wants to see how things go, see how he feels, and make the decision whether to step back in the Octagon or not.

Coach’s blog – how to know when a fighter is ready to turn pro

When is a fighter ready to turn Pro? I am sitting here thinking about two of my fighters, Thomas Campbell and Steven Durr, both of whom are 145 lbs.

Campbell came to me as a college wrestler with a 3-1 MMA record. When he first joined us it was after he had fought my guy Durr. Campbell won that fight via decision. He was a pure wrestler at the time. He is now 12-2; both losses have been to decisions.

He had his first Muay Thai match a couple of months ago and won that. He is training in BJJ and is a totally different fighter then when he came to us. Since joining us he has won the SSF Invitational and the KYFC 145 lbs. title.

Mamed Khalidov vs. Jorge Santiago will fight at Sengoku 11 on Nov. 7. The event will air live on HDNet.

The past couple of weeks have been relatively slow with MMA action; but that was just so you could catch your breath for what is about to take place over the next couple of months. In about three weeks Sengoku 11 takes place at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan. The event will air live here in the U.S. on HDNet.

There are a number of great fights on the card including Dave “Pee Wee” Herman vs. “Big” Jim York, Hatsu Hioki vs. Michihiro Omigawa, and more. However, the fight we are focusing on in this spotlight is the middleweight match-up between Jorge Santiago (21-7, #6 MW) vs. Mamed Khalidov (19-3-1).

Jorge Santiago is a top ten ranked middleweight and a veteran of such promotions as the UFC, Bodog, King of the Cage, Strikeforce, and Sengoku. Having won eight of his fights by (T)KO and 12 by submission, he is very  well-rounded.
