Projekt Label fighter Chad “Savage” George (10-4) was recently invited to Japan to train with the camp of Japanese Shooto legend Rumina Sato. Being that Chad has a fight coming up on Nov. 14 against Greg Guzman at “Called Out MMA 2,” he saw this as the perfect opportunity to train with some of the top lighter weight fighters in the world, and as a special treat for us he is keeping a blog of his trip. Be sure to check back each day to see how things are going with Chad during this very unique experience.

Day 3

Today we drove to Osaka for Shooto. Nothing like getting up at 4:30 a.m. for a seven hour drive.

We left the small town of Odawara and headed to the giant city of Osaka. During the drive we stopped off at some really cool rest stops that had really good food and some stuff to look around at and buy. I also got to see a glimpse of Mount Fiji!

Once we finally got to Osaka, I was in shell shock. This city was huge. So many people, buildings stacked on top of each other, and yet so clean and very mod looking. It was amazing. We grabbed a quick bite of noodles just outside of the Shooto event and then headed in.

Let me start of by saying the Japanese MMA shows are amazing. Just the atmosphere and the vibe blew me away. This was a very small show and yet the fans were so educated I couldn’t believe it. Not one boo and nothing but clapping and “ahhhs.” It was great.

Rumina’s student fought a good fight and won by a very close decision. There were a few other good fights and then it was over.

After Shooto we hung around Osaka for a few hours site-seeing. Turns out the guys had never been there before so I was not the only one whose first it was this time. Kinda nice. We went to this GIANT mall that had hundreds of shops, food, and just about anything you can think of.

The guys searched the food court for this disk that was native to Osaka (sorry i forgot was it was call) that was your choice of either egg octopus, green onions, tuna shavings and some other stuff or pork, cheese, green onions and this crazy sauce. OH MY GOD was this good.

After eating we walked around a bit and then headed home. Another seven hour drive with seven people crammed into a small seven seat mini van. Oh yeah! We finally got in around 3 a.m. Another exhusting day but again full of amazing experiences. Tomorrow is another full day of training!!

  1. This blog is making me want to get the Rosetta Stone and move to Japan. I mean I wanted to do that before, but this blog is seriously pushing the issue.
