Kansas City, Kansas – Titan Entertainment Owner and President Joe Kelly announced Wednesday the formation of a brand new full-time mixed martial arts promotion to be known as Titan Entertainment’s Combat Sports Championships (www.CombatSC.com).

“After having established a strong track record with my old Titan MMA shows, I am excited to be back to promoting full-time MMA in the Kansas City market,” said Kelly. “With Titan MMA on hiatus, we were able to bring some nationally televised MMA events to Kansas City and that gave me the itch to start promoting shows on my own again, but this time on a bigger and better scale.”

The debut event for the newly-minted Combat Sports Championships is set for Friday, Oct. 2 at 7:00 p.m. CT at the historic Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. Tickets for the inaugural event are now on sale at all local Ticketmaster outlets as well as Ticketmaster.com with general admission tickets priced at just $25 and floor seats available for $75.

A total of 13 fights (card subject to change) are scheduled in an All-Star lineup featuring the top up-and-coming fighters hailing from Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Iowa. In all, “CSC Fight Night I” is set to host nine professional fights along with four additional amateur bouts contested under pro-style rules.

“CSC Fight Night I” will also spotlight several fighters that competed during the August undercard for M-1 and HDNet’s “Breakthrough” event. Having received national exposure through a free Internet stream of the “Breakthrough” undercard on Sherdog.com, Sean “P-Town” Wilson, Rudy Bears, and Tim Bazer will all look to take the next step forward in their respective MMA careers during the inaugural Combat Sports Championships event on Oct. 2 at Memorial Hall.

“The Combat Sports Championships has some major plans for growth but for our first show we really wanted to focus on calling more attention to the overlooked prospects competing on the Midwest MMA scene,” said Kelly. “While national expansion is our goal, I am perfectly comfortable putting our initial focus on Midwest-based fighters being that I was born and raised in Kansas City and still call it my home.”

Wilson, training out of MidAmerica Martial Arts in Omaha, Nebraska, improved to 19-9 following his first round knockout victory at “Breakthrough” over Army Combatives champion Josh Arocho. On Oct. 2, Wilson will face an even tougher test when he takes on submission specialist Joe Wilk of Manhattan, Kansas.

Wilk is one of the most highly-regarded fight prospects in the Kansas City area with a pro record of 7-1 and a perfect amateur record of 5-0. Renowned for his jiu-jitsu, Wilk is currently on a five fight win streak with his most recent win having taken place in March against former UFC vet Ryan Roberts.

“We really wanted Joe to be featured on the Sherdog.com undercard in August but multiple fighters flat out refused to fight him,” Kelly said. “His reputation throughout the region is already strong and it’s only a matter of time until that reputation reaches the national MMA audience. We are very grateful that Sean Wilson was willing to step up because Wilk is simply a fighter that many are afraid of right now.”

Bears, fighting out of Independence, Missouri, improved to 10-3 at “Breakthrough” following a second round TKO victory. The win was his sixth in a row and came in front of a strong hometown contingent.

“We are excited to have Rudy on our debut show on Oct. 2, as he is one of the area’s most popular fighters,” Kelly began to state. “In addition to being popular, Rudy is a tremendous talent. He has expressed his desire to compete in bigger shows such as the UFC and Strikeforce and I believe he’s only a couple wins away from having that dream become a reality.”

Standing in Bears’ way of reaching the big time is Matt Delanoit, a talented wrestler who most recently fought against 2008 Olympian Ben Askren.

In addition to Wilk vs. Wilson and Bears vs. Delanoit, the professional main card will also see highly-touted Muay Thai champion Drew Dober take on Aaron Derrow in lightweight action.

“Dober vs. Derrow is a fight that I believe will steal the spotlight,” said Kelly. “They are two of the most-talked about young prospects on the scene right now. Dober was 12-0 as an amateur and Derrow made headlines in August after defeating three opponents in one night and winning a lightweight tournament. The fans planning to attend on Oct. 2 are going to be amazed by what they see from these two.”

Other matchups scheduled for “CSC Fight Night I” include Kansas City bantamweight Chad Vandenberg (5-1) taking on Shad Lankford (Seneca, Missouri), red hot welterweight Tyler “The Evolution” Stinson (14-5, Winfield, Kansas) vs. striking specialist Brandon Newsome (12-4, Tulsa, Oklahoma), and undefeated featherweight Brian Davidson (4-0, Lee’s Summit, Missouri) moving up to lightweight to challenge Tim Bazer (10-8, Omaha, Nebraska).

Kelly is also promising two surprise announcements in the coming days regarding the co-main events for “CSC Fight Night I.”

“As is, I feel great about this card,” began Kelly. “However, since this is our first event, we want to go big and we are finalizing our two co-main events right now and we will be announcing them in the next few days. With the two co-main event fights we are going to add, it will make ‘CSC Fight Night I’ the biggest MMA event in Kansas history.”

Rounding out the undercard will be undefeated amateurs Justin Seffron (5-0, Omaha, Nebraska), Anthony Guiterrez (6-0, Lee’s Summit, Missouri), Joe Wilk-protégé Jake Lindsey (5-0, Manhattan, Kansas), Dustin Sullivan (5-0, Kansas City, Kansas), and former NCAA All-American Donald Bradshaw (1-0, Marshall, Missouri).

Tickets for “CSC Fight Night I” are currently available at all local Ticketmaster outlets as well as online at Ticketmaster.com. For more information visit CSCFights.com.
