UFC veteran Sean Salmon (16-8) has some nerve. It takes a certain kind of person to come on one of the sport’s top websites and admit to throwing a fight.
From all appearances, that is what happened on Wed., Sept. 2, 2009, in Salmon’s column entitled “Full-Time Fighter.”
The fight in question was against Allan Weickert (6-6), and took place on June 6, 2009 at “NAAFS – Fight Nite in the Flats 5” at the Plain Dealer Pavilion in Cleveland, Ohio.
Salmon said it was June 3 and he was in England training with the guys at Wolfslair. He had a fight against Weickert back in Ohio on June 6. As he was getting ready to leave for America, the trainers at Wolfslair told him, “If you get hurt in that fight don’t bother coming back.”
Salmon said, “Obviously getting back to England to learn and train with some of the best was my priority.”
Due to Weickert’s record, Salmon thought he would roll right over him, but it did not turn out that way.
Salmon said he handled him very easily the first round but Weickert landed a big elbow to his temple and Salmon became worried that he was going to get a cut, sustain an injury, and not be able to go back and train at Wolfslair.
Then comes the confession.
“In the second round, I took him down again. He went for an armbar, I defended it (only to prove to myself that he couldn’t get it), and then I put my arm back in to give him the win so that I could return to England, healthy. Just so you all know, that is the most embarrassing thing I have ever admitted out loud.”
It makes one wonder what he has not admitted to.
There seems to be three schools of thought on Salmon’s confession of throwing the fight:
A. He is making an excuse for why he got beat.
B. He is telling the truth.
C. The head kick knockout he received from Rashad Evans at ‘UFC Fight Night 8″ gave him permanent brain damage and he has no idea what he is saying.
Salmon does not say exactly which Wolfslair fighters in particular he was so anxious to get back to and train with.
Hopefully he did not throw that fight just so he could go back to England and hear those tired “black on black crime” and “stinky breath” jokes from Quinton Jackson.
Hopefully he did not throw the fight at all and is just trying to make some excuse why he was defeated.
Many MMA fans are calling for Salmon’s crucifixion, saying he should be banned from the sport, blacklisted, or fined by the commission. What is your opinion? We would like to know.

It is not just the high kick from Rashad Evans, he was hit with a flying knee from Jorge Santiago in the 2007 4-man Strikeforce tournament that left him in convulsions on the ground. Probably one of the most troubling things I have seen in the ring.
I was at that fight it was a horrible fight sean did look like he was handling weikert pretty easy it ended just as he explained and sean looked like he didnt really care about the loss butt why throw the fight it makes zero sense
