On Sat., Aug. 22, 2009, Appleton’s Harley Davidson in Clarksville, Tenn. will host an afternoon of live music and live mixed martial arts action. It does not get much better than that! The gates open at 2:00 p.m. for “The SSF Invitational: Darkness” and the fights begin at 3:00 p.m.
Local favorites Zack Hicks and Yannick Jones will be on the card with other teammates representing Clarksville’s own SSF Submission Academy. Other schools with participating fighters include Diamond MMA out of Carbondale, Ill., Team R.O.C.K. out of Camden, Tenn., The Bull Pit out of Jackson, Tenn, Lakeside Traning out of Princeton, Ky. and Clarksville Fight Club.

Four of the fights on the above card are wrong. Joe Copeland dropped out a week before the fight due to Staph and Damon Spriggs was a no show for weigh ins (both from Clarksville Fight Club). Nathan Noble took Damon’s place with less the 12 hour notice. Bobby Oliver replace Joe Copeland and ended up winning against local favorite Zack Hicks.
Thomas Olive replaced Roger Durpo (I don’t know why Roger was replaced). This fight was action packed with Thomas Olive controlling what looked like a one sided match until he got caught in a kimura.
The Marcus Hammond vs Yannick Jones fight was cancelled due to a training injury suffered by Marcus.
