Florida MMA promotion Xtreme Fighting Championships (XFC) is looking to broaden their horizons by taking their show international. On Dec. 12, 2009, the XFC will hold an event in Berlin, Germany. Following in the footsteps of the UFC in June, the show will mark only the second American based MMA promotion ever to visit Germany.

The Dec. 12 event will feature some of Germany’s own rising MMA talent as well as fighters from the U.S. XFC President John Prisco spoke about the event. “This is an exciting opportunity to showcase the athleticism and skill of XFC fighters internationally,” said Prisco.

“It will inspire a greater appreciation and awareness of Germany’s local up-and-coming fighters, and simultaneously expose the future American MMA legends abroad. These fighters will be branded in a global market with opportunities solely limited by the way they present themselves in and out of the cage,” Prisco explained.

The XFC has partnered with a German based promoter with plans to hold a series of events for the XFC in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria in 2009 and 2010. The XFC is planning to hold a total of 15 events throughout Europe during 2010.

These are big aspirations for the XFC, who up until this point, has only held a handful of events per year and has only held events outside of Florida a few times.

However, by partnering up with a European promotion team who has been responsible for events and tours of such acts at Elton John, The Rolling Stones, and Christina Aguilera, they seem to be in capable hands.

While the XFC has plans of conquering Europe, they are still committed to a minimum of four U.S. events that will broadcast live on HDNet and will be rebroadcast on various other cable networks.

The XFC’s next event will be held on Sept. 5 in the place where they garnered national attention for repeated sell-outs, the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Fla. The event will also air live on HDNet!
