The Associated Press has reported that former American League MVP, Jose Canseco pulled out of his celebrity boxing match against competitive eater Bill “El Wingador” Simmons.
Former professional wrestling personality Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake replaced Canseco and lost in the first round on Friday night. According to the AP report Canseco withdrew from the fight due to his father’s illness. Promoter Damon Feldman said that although he was disappointed he understands the former baseball player’s motivation.
There is no word if and when Canseco will step back into the ring. Canseco holds an 0-1 professional MMA record and an 0-1-1 professional boxing record.
