Twitter and other social networking websites are changing the way news is being reported. In yet another example it appears that 2008 Olympic wrestler Daniel Cormier is preparing to enter the MMA world.

Cormier’s Twitter, @Cormier2009, was full of updates last week chronicling his visit to AKA and training with Muhammed Lawal. Here are some highlights.

“I’m n San Jose training MMA. I am going to LA on Friday. What have u been doing?”

“Just finished sparring went hard kinda hurt my elbow but its cool. Cain has really nice hands and goes hard.”

“I am n LA for a week. I am going down to train with Mo and Mark Munoz. We are all fighting now.”

Cormier will be another example of the recent renaissance of high-level wrestlers entering the MMA world. Recently Muhammed Lawal and Joe Warren have experienced great success. Today’s link between international level MMA could be stronger than ever.

Daniel Cormier started his wrestling career in high school, by winning three Louisiana State Championships and becoming a high school all-American. After his high school career, Cormier won two Junior College National Championships before transferring to Oklahoma State University. In his senior season Cormier finished second, losing only to wrestling legend Cael Sanderson in the final.

The Louisiana native came into his own on the international freestyle circuit by winning six straight US National Championships. He also represented his country in two Olympic games finishing fourth in 2004, and fifth in the 2003 World Championships.
