Music City MMA’s “Rock & Havoc” takes place Saturday, July 18th at the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn. The card features a main event of two former Ultimate Fighter contestants with TUF season 8 veteran Shane Primm (2-1) taking on TUF season 7 veteran Mike Dolce (4-6).

Also on the card is one of the area’s up and coming heavyweight fighters by the name of Elliott Bratton. Bratton trains out of the SSF Submission Academy in Clarksville, Tenn. 

In this edition of PRO MMA‘s (promma.info) Southeastern Amateur Spotlight we talk to Elliott about his upcoming fight against Dale Marritt, how he feels about fighting on the same card with TUF veterans, what fans can expect to see on July 18th, and more.

PRO MMA: How did you get involved with MMA?
Elliott Bratton: I joined the Army in 2006. I always had an interest in the UFC since me and my dad watched the first ones back in the day. The Army had and MMA tournament in 2007 and I won. Been doing it off and on ever since.

PRO MMA: Where do you currently train?
Elliott Bratton: SSF in Clarksville, Tenn.

PRO MMA: What is your record and what weight class do you fight in?
Elliott Bratton: I am 3-0 and I fight in the Heavyweight division.

PRO MMA: When is your next fight?
Elliott Bratton: Saturday, July 18th at the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville.

PRO MMA: How does it feel to be on a card with three fighters who were are former TUF contestants?
Elliott Bratton: I think it’s a good opportunity to get some training tips and advice on my career.

PRO MMA: Who is your opponent and what do you know about him?
Elliott Bratton:Dale Marritt is my opponent. I don’t know a whole lot about him, I just know he is pretty athletic.

PRO MMA: Do you have a specific area of MMA in which you feel the most comfortable fighting, striking or grappling?
Elliott Bratton: I am comfortable on the ground and on the feet.

PRO MMA: When you are not training or fighting in MMA how do you spend your time?
Elliott Bratton: Either working or spending time with my one year old son Levi.

PRO MMA: Do you have any long term goals in MMA or is it just something you enjoy doing sort of like a hobby?
Elliott Bratton: I would like someday to go pro, but I don’t want to look past that right now. Gotta start small.

PRO MMA: Is there any fighters amateur or pro that you look up to?
Elliott Bratton: Nick Diaz and Randy Couture mostly. Diaz is the most exciting fighter in MMA in my opinion and Randy is just inspiring and relentless.

PRO MMA: Do you have any fights scheduled after Saturday?
Elliott Bratton: Not currently.

PRO MMA: What can fans expect to see watching you fight this Saturday?
Elliott Bratton: They will see a fighter doing his best to win, finish the fight and entertain them.
