PRO MMA (promma.info) participated in a UFC 100 conference call today with welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and no. 1 contender Thiago “Pitbull” Alves.

As the popularity of MMA and the UFC grows, more and more mainstream media are joining these calls. MTV News was on today’s call asking about the fighters’ walk-out music.

GSP and Thiago remained professional throughout, although as usual, there were some terribly ridiculous questions. It is never good when a reporter asks the same question someone else asked just minutes before; but the worst is when they tell you it is going to be the same question re-worded.

Here are just a few of the notable quotes from the 41:15 call:

GEORGES ST. PIERRE:
“If you put Thiago Alves and B.J. Penn in a fight, I would bet all my money on Thiago Alves, no doubt about it.”

“Skill-wise, I feel I’m fighting the best guy I’ve faced so far.”

“I’m always very nervous.”

“I don’t think it will make a difference because I always train with bigger guys.”

“Right now about maybe 188-190lbs.”

“I agree with it, no problem. (Instant replay)”

“I’ve been watching a lot of tape and I do have a specific strategy. But when you play cards, you don’t show your hand.”

“He’s always a better version of what he was before.”

“You have to keep your goal in mind.”

“I want to be the best pound-for-pound that ever fought in MMA history.”

“It would be foolish of me to think this is an easy fight.”

“Maybe, we’ll see. I never cheat in my life.” (If he will be using the breathing technique in this fight)

THIAGO ALVES:
“I just got done training so probably around 190 lbs. right now.”

“Emotionally, I was born for this.”

“I know there’s a lot of pressure but you have no choice, you’ve got to deal with it.”

“I think it’s a great idea.” (Instant replay)

“He’s dangerous everywhere, not just the take-downs. I’m prepared for everything.”

“Training right now is hell.”

“I come from Brazil, it wasn’t easy for me. I came here with $70 in my pocket… I came here to be the best fighter in the world and to make history… That’s what keeps me going.”
