This past Saturday Joe Stevenson caught Nate Diaz in a hold that had many, including 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu brown shirt Joe Rogan, stumped. However, many folkstyle wrestling enthusiasts recognized it immediately as a spladle.
Could this become the hot new thing in grappling, much like Eddie Bravo’s twister roll? Only time will tell, but it is always refreshing to see new aspects of wrestling implemented into MMA. The sport is still young and there is much more room to grow.
