As is the custom, the fighters who perform the best are rewarded within the UFC. At UFC 98 four fighters were awarded a bonus of $60,000 each. Receiving the award for “FIGHT OF THE NIGHT” were Matt Hughes and Matt Serra for their back and forth bad blood battle that went the distance. Although Hughes won, both fighters received $60,000 each.

“KNOCKOUT OF THE NIGHT” of course went to Lyoto Machida for his devastating knockout of Rashad Evans. In the preliminary fights, Krzysztof Soszynski also had a highlight reel knockout of Andre Gusmao, but due to the magnitude of the fight, the impressive domination, and complete putting to sleep of Evans, Machida got the $60,000 reward.

“SUBMISSION OF THE NIGHT” went to Brock Larson for his arm triangle choke of Mike Pyle. There were two other submission victories on the card; a guillotine choke by Yoshiyuki Yoshida and a guillotine choke by Tim Hague, but Larson got the nod for a cool sixty grand.

The $60,000 bonuses were down $10,000 from UFC 97 where fighters were rewarded a whopping $70,000. For complete UFC 98 results and play-by-play go HERE.
