Machida, Hughes, Serra, and Larson take home UFC 98 bonus money

As is the custom, the fighters who perform the best are rewarded within the UFC. At UFC 98 four fighters were awarded a bonus of $60,000 each. Receiving the award for “FIGHT OF THE NIGHT” were¬†Matt Hughes and Matt Serra for their back and forth bad blood battle that went the distance. Although Hughes won, both fighters received $60,000 each.

“KNOCKOUT OF THE NIGHT” of course went to Lyoto Machida for his devastating knockout of Rashad Evans. In the preliminary fights, Krzysztof Soszynski also had a highlight reel knockout of Andre Gusmao, but due to the magnitude of the fight, the impressive domination, and complete putting to sleep of Evans, Machida got the $60,000 reward.

“SUBMISSION OF THE NIGHT” went to Brock Larson for his arm triangle choke of Mike Pyle. There were two other submission victories on the card; a guillotine choke by Yoshiyuki Yoshida and a guillotine choke by Tim Hague, but Larson got the nod for a cool sixty grand.

The $60,000 bonuses were down $10,000 from UFC 97 where fighters were rewarded a whopping $70,000. For complete UFC 98 results and play-by-play go HERE.
