Damacio Page (11-4) walked into the cage against #7 ranked Bantamweight Marcos Galvao (6-3-1) at WEC 39 with a look of purpose. In just 18 seconds of the fight the purpose was carried out. Page stunned Galvao with a right hand and never let up punishing him with hard punches to earn a quick knockout and his second win in the WEC promotion.

Page comes from the famed Jackson Submission Fighting camp in Albuquerque, New Mexico that houses such fighters as current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans, top middleweight contender Nathan Marquardt, and UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St.Pierre among other top fighters.

This was Page’s third fight in the WEC; his first was a unanimous decision win over Scott Jorgensen at WEC 32 and then a first round submission loss to #2 ranked bantamweight Brian Bowles, who is undefeated in his MMA career. Ironically Bowles also KO’d Galvao when they fought at WEC 31 in December of 2007.

Page’s win over Galvao at WEC 39 puts him maybe just a fight or two away as a contender for the WEC Bantamweight Title currently held by Miguel Torres. The bantamweight division in the WEC is quickly becoming one of the more exciting divisions in all of MMA. Seven of the top ten ranked fighters are all in the WEC.

Page set out to show everyone that he is one of the top bantamweights and he did just that with the impressive 18 second KO of Galvao. With this defeat, Galvao has to drop a rung or two down the bantamweight ladder, whereas Page may have secured himself a spot among the elite.

MMA fans will be anxiously awaiting the announcement of Page’s next opponent to see if he can get one step closer to the crown.

  1. Blogger recently added a free capability to redirect to a subdomain of your primary domain, so I believe it is back in the game. For example, my web site is ‘www.startupprofessionals.com’ and my blog is ‘blog.startupprofessionals.com’. Thus search engines will index all my content of both to the same domain.
