Tony Lopez successfully defends his KOTC Light Heavyweight Title

KING OF THE CAGE was back in action on February 26, 2009 at the San Manuel Casino in San Beranrdino, California with KOTC: IMMORTAL. The event featured three title fights including a KOTC Light Heavyweight (205 lbs.) Championship bout with Keith “KO Kid” Berry (6-3) challenging the champion, Tony “Kryptonite” Lopez (11-2).

The “KO Kid” fell victim to “Kryptonite” kicks and a punch combination in the third round that dropped him to the mat. Lopez followed up on his downed opponent until the ref was forced to call it at 4:29 of round three giving Tony Lopez his first title defense victory.

Bobby Green (8-2) was back from his impressive short notice performance at Affliction: Day of Reckoning to take on Jonathan Ulloa (2-3). Green used low kicks and overhand rights to set up a take-down where he then took full mount. Ulloa escaped briefly but Green was able to regain the mount and secured an armbar just 2:11 into round one.

The MMA community was all a buzz about Green following his performance at ‘Day of Reckoning’ where he fought Danny Lauzon. Even though Green lost that fight fans were impressed with his aggressiveness and striking. He is showing well-rounded skills and at only twenty-two years old, this kid has a bright future.
