PRO MMA (promma.info) has been covering the TUFF-N-UFF events for quite some time because we recognized early on what a valuable platform they provide for amateur MMA athletes. They call their shows “Future Stars of MMA” for a reason; because their tournament-style events offer a breeding ground for up-and-coming fighters to build a name for themselves and get the experience they need to move on into the world of professional mixed martial arts competition.
On Sunday, April 15, TUFF-N-UFF: FUTURE STARS OF MMA returned with the first rounds of a four-man 135lbs. tournament, an eight-man 155lbs. tournament, an eight-man 170lbs. tournament, a four-man 205lbs. tournament, and a 130lbs. female MMA fight. To top it off, they had a main event featuring Ryan Couture, the son of MMA legend Randy Couture and a member of Team Xtreme Couture, taking on Art Martinez from Team Fubar at 155lbs.
Fifteen fights in all went down at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV, with Ryan Couture emerging victorious over Art Martinez with a rear naked choke early in round two. This was Ryan’s second victory in just as many fights. The young Couture has stated he will take MMA a fight at a time and keep competing as long as he enjoys it.
